The Forest Grove series follows the self-discovery of a group of friends over four years of high school in the fictional Northern Wisconsin town of Forest Grove.

This autobiographical collection of essays takes the reader on a sometimes funny, oftentimes deep, and hopefully inspirational journey of what it meant for David to be an extraordinarily ordinary athlete.
